The Field Service Technician II, NIDS (National-Aerospace Information Display System) performs hardware and software installation of IT equipment.
**TRAVEL/WORK SCHEDULE IS (approx) 3 WEEKS OF 100% TRAVEL THROUGHOUT CONTINENTAL U.S. AND 1 WEEK OFF**
**MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER LICENSE and AUTO INSURANCE**
WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU
You'll be installing "NIDS" (NAS Information Display System), a new nation-wide system for controllers at ATC (Air Traffic Control) towers and TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control) facilities. NIDS puts all the information needed by controller's right at their fingertips.
For the more technical parts of the job, we won't toss you in the deep end – you'll have good procedures to work from and experienced team members working with you to ensure your success. You'll install and configure server and client operating systems and system software. You'll physically run and terminate all new CAT-6 cable to produce an entirely new network. You'll work with FAA equipment technicians to connect and test the Ethernet, IRIG, RS-232, RS-485, and 4-20 mA current loops.
You'll work with FAA network technicians to use Federal communications lines to interconnect NIDS systems at multiple airports into a combined network.
As a NIDS Tech, you'll have a chance to use all your skills and learn a few new ones.
As a NIDS Tech II, you'll be assisting less experienced technicians with serial and Ethernet communications issues and helping to diagnose computer, network, and domain issues, so all the experience you've already gained in those areas will make you the hero.
Have you heard the joke "Well, it's not like we're flying airplanes" when people discuss quality? Well, we *are* flying airplanes.
